You will experience cultural drumming and dancing that will touch your very soul in its intensity. Ghana’s history stretches almost 2000 years, to the riches of the ancient Ghana Empire. Abundant trade in gold, ivory, salt, and kola nuts existed between Ghana and other African states and this eventually led Europeans to the shores of Africa and to the country known as the Gold Coast. Come, relax, and enjoy Ghana’s culture, beauty, and warmth. Day 1 – August 12, 2024 – Arrival at Kotoka International Airport, Welcome Home Celebration

      Our tour guide and travel team will pick you up at Kotoka International Airport and check you into the hotel. Tailors and hair braiders will be available at your hotel to measure and you for traditional African wear or to get your lovely African braids.

The Welcome Home Dinner at Zen Garden is where you will get your first taste of Ghanian culture with authentic local dishes and live music and dance. Join in the celebration and rejoice in your homecoming to Africa.

Day 2 - August 13, 2024 – Accra City Tour and Chale Wote Street Art Festival

Leap into African culture and fun in Accra. Visit the W.E.B du Bois Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Jamestown ( Oldest part of Accra). Experience the excitement of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival. It is a cultural extravaganza of art, music, dance and performance out in the streets of Accra. This festival brings together scores of local and international artists and visitors to appreciate the genius.

Day 3 – August 14, 2024 – Cultural Shopping Tour

Let’s kick off the day at the huge marketplace at Accra Art Center - a shopping lover’s paradise. You can purchase African clothing, art, waist beads, sandals, leather goods and more. The shopping tour includes local drumming lessons and African music. We will end our morning with a visit to the famous Makola Market. This is the largest open-air market in West Africa. Bring your bargaining skills to make the best deals.

Evening takes us to the streets for night the life of Osu with its fast pace, sidewalk cafes and local vendors. Oxford Street is the place to try some local bar favorites, eat jollof rice, line dance and party the night away.

Day 4 – August 15, 2024 – Aburi Gardens and Waterfalls

Today we explore the wonders of Aburi Botanical Gardens. A 45-minute ride from Accra to the mountains and enjoy the cool breeze and the lush horticulture with traditional medicinal values. Taste the sweetness of cocoa fruit where chocolate is made from. A green and pleasant environment awaits you in Aburi.

A short climb through the mountains takes you to the Aburi Waterfalls. Such a refreshingly wonderful time awaits you as you walk barefoot in the water.

Afterwards, stop by Jerk Soul Restaurant for some amazing Jamaican inspired food.

Day 5 – August 16, 2024 – The Volta Region

Today we explore the eastern region of Ghana in the city of Akosombo. 

On our way, we will stop at Shai Hills Reserve. Shai Hills Resource Reserve is a wildlife reserve about an hour from Accra. The reserve is home to 31 species of mammals and over 150 bird species. Among those are kob antelopes, baboons, zebras (which are not native to Ghana) and an ostrich. Several hills inside the reserve offer some incredible views over the plains of the park. 

From here we head to Akosombo where we check into our beautiful resort, with its picturesque views and luxury accommodations. Get ready for a boat cruise along the Volta River and be Instagram picture ready for your photoshoot. 

Afterwards, relax poolside at this gem in the Volta Region.

Day 6 – August 17, 2024 – The Volta Region

After breakfast we visit the Tafi Atome Monkey sanctuary where friendly monkeys greet us. Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery and local villages along the way.

Our journey continues to Wli waterfalls, the longest waterfalls in West Africa. Here is a great location for a memorable photoshoot. 

After lunch we head back to our hotel to enjoy the wonderful amenities.

Day 7 – August 18, 2024 – Accra, Ghana

Breakfast then check out of our hotel in The Volta Region and head back to Accra, 

After check in, depending on your temperature, relax at the hotel or meet the locals at Labodi Beach, where all the beach action takes place.

Day 8 – August 19, 2024 – Cape Coast, Ghana

Today we have an early departure to Cape Coast Ghana. Please dress in all white attire to honor our ancestors. We will be honored with our African Names in an African Naming Ceremony and then trace the steps of our ancestors at the Assin Manso Slave River.

Afterwards well will relax and reflect at the beautiful oceanfront Lemon Beach Resort.

Day 9 – August 20, 2024 – Elmina Ghana

Today we visit Cape Coast slave dungeons and the Door of No Return. During our guided tour, we will trace the steps of our ancestors and pay homage to them. We will learn in detail the carnage of the Cape Coast dungeons.

In the afternoon, be ready for hiking and canopy walk at Kakum National Park 

We will experience the Slave River where slaves had their last bath before being sold to traders. We will participate in a solemn ceremony along the river and commemorate our fore parents. We will walk the path traveled by our ancestors to the meandering waters and be blessed by the calming stream.  After this adventurous day, we will dine and rest in Cape Coast at the beautiful Lemon Beach Resort.

Day 10 – August 21, 2024 - Accra

We head back to Accra for our final day in The Motherland. Last minute shopping and we celebrate at our amazing adventure at a late Farewell Lunch. Transportation to the airport will be provided.
